    Our Children Are Our Garden

    09/27 /1 Comment

Our children are our garden. They absorb our stress, just as they absorb our peace. They absorb our negativity just as they absorb our joy. And we have the power to control what they absorb, but first, we must tend to ourselves – Rachel Macy Stafford August 2020: This hits home so hard for me right now. I can imagine I am not in this boat alone either. I am not doing a great job of tending to me… I feel like I have been under water since March of last year and slowly drowning. I thought going back to work and having Coop at school would normalize things again,…

    I Didn’t Light A Candle, A Poem For My Unborn Baby…

    07/14 /No Comments

I wrote this some time ago and while it isn’t October, there is always a time to honor and remember. I didn’t light a candle I let the memory live inside It is not that I forgot Because I couldn’t if I tried Time has passed But the pain is still real No matter how much I try I imagine you still Your tiny hands Tiny feet The bundle of joy I never had a chance to meet I know one day We will walk together I will hold you and love you And it will be forever I didn’t light a candle…. I have had so many close to…

    Prayer… It Works

    09/21 /2 Comments

So anyone that knows me knows that complaining is not my thing. In fact when someone asks how I am my response is “Can’t complain and no one would want to listen if I did.” My aunt came back with the perfect response, sometimes if you don’t vocalize what is going on, God can’t put people in a place to pray for you and it is okay to express what is going on. That made me think a bit because while life happens and it is frustrating when things don’t go your way someone else always has it harder/ worse so who am I to complain? I follow a family…

Home Is Where The Heart Is

    09/18 /No Comments

Well we did it! Moved cross country with a 19 month old baby and a 14 year old Labrador! Oh and we survived our first week back with work and the humidity! All in all the fact I can smile still and have hair is astonishing! Coop and Abby did really well on the trip. The first day was better than the second but due to rain we couldn’t get out of the car as much for breaks. I want to thank Sesame Street for keeping him entertained for 22 hours! I loaded a season of Sesame Street from Amazon Prime Video to his iPad and let me tell you…

    Wildlife Sanctuary

    07/01 /1 Comment

Last week we had the pleasure of visiting The Wild Animal Sanctuary. The Wild Animal Sanctuary currently operates with more than 9,793 acres of beautiful and natural habitat for its rescued animals to enjoy. Their animals come from horrific captive situations and are rescued and also rehabilitated so they can live and roam freely in large natural habitats with others of their own kind. It was a one of a kind experience and while tears were shed from reading their stories, I am very grateful for the work this organization is doing. If you are in Colorado I highly recommend you visit and if you can donate please do. They…

    Breast Milk Diaries Part II

    12/14 /No Comments

Well the day happened, I used the last of my frozen supply. I am now substituting formula along with breast-milk and let me tell ya it was not easy! I made him his first formula bottle and he hated it! Made me smile a bit but I knew he had to develop a taste for it. The next try I gave it to him in the morning when he was good and hungry and he drank six ounces no problem. That night I made him another bottle. It was tough giving it to him and of course I cried. I am still able to pump around nine ounces a day…

    Held

    11/06 /No Comments

Today I held him a little longer, a little tighter. I know he is tiny yet but the recent events of this world have made my instincts to protect him that much greater. I used to think “Tragedy doesn’t strike small towns, especially at church”. Yesterday’s events completely shattered that apparent delusion that I had. This week I have learned that a simple trip to the store to pick up rubber bands or gathering in the house of the Lord is not safe. While I know that getting in your car daily can be a risk, I don’t correlate the other two with the potential of losing your life. I…

Teething Nightmare! It Really Is A Thing!

    10/18 /2 Comments

So I am going to go ahead and poo poo on the naysayers that say teething stories are made out to be worse than they are! They have no clue and it isn’t just hype! My lil man started teething what seemed to be around four months. His first tooth erupted at seven months and now his second is coming in a month later. I have been bit, dealt with swollen gums and flushed cheeks, him not sleeping and severe irritability due to discomfort of his mouth. He is normally a super happy baby but when the teeth are flaring he lets it be known! So things I have done…
