    Lil Man’s First Birthday!

    02/07 /No Comments

I can’t believe the time has passed as quickly as it has. One year already and it feels like we just brought him home! God has truly blessed us with the most amazing baby and I am so grateful to be his mama. His birthday party was a huge success and I would like to share the details with you! Since we are a huge outdoors family I went with a buffalo plaid and forest theme. Cupcakes were easiest and I found the most amazing recipe that you just have to try even if it isn’t for a party! I made cupcake wrappers with Photoshop and will include the tutorial…

    Venezuelan Empanada’s

    01/29 /1 Comment

Got this recipe from a friend of mine and I love empanada’s! If you have older kids, this is fun to make with them. Prep Harina Pan as indicated on package. Don’t add sugar however it isn’t necessary. You want a wet but pliable consistency in order to form the dough. (refrigerate for 30 min) While dough is in the refrigerator make your filling. Here are a few examples of what you can make to fill: Taco meat and queso fresco Shredded chicken and cheese Sweet plantain and shredded beef Ham and cheese Dough Prep: Lightly flour a work surface and roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thick. Cut…

The Day The Devil Knocked & The Door Was Answered

    01/19 /No Comments

Our greatest fear is that our children will lose the battle with their addiction. For some families, this fear has become their new reality. June 26th, 2017 is the day that shook our world. We received word my husbands eldest nephew, Jake, lost his fight with his demons. After achieving a period of abstinence, the devil knocked on the door, he answered and his body failed him. The shock that took me is indescribable. It had been less than a week since we talked and he told me how great he was doing and I expressed how proud of him I was. For a moment I believed there was hope! He…

I rely on my slow cooker and crock pot through the week and this is another super easy meal. Another option is to omit the gravy and broth and substitute for 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup with half cans of water.

    Breast Milk Diaries III

    01/08 /No Comments

January first was the last day I pumped. I am still breastfeeding at night and in the morning if Coop wants but he has weaned himself pretty much to only at night. I decided an organic powdered formula would work best for us being the most economical and environmentally friendly. I researched formula better than the FBI and here is what I came up with. (Post contains affiliate links) Baby’s Only Organic LactoRelief with DHA & ARA Toddler Formula is what I am using. While he doesn’t have an issue with lactose I choose this due to less constipation issues in babies were reported. The price isn’t overwhelming and if…

How Things Have Changed, & I Am Okay With That!

    01/01 /1 Comment

My husband asked me if I was okay with the way we are spending New Years Eve. Sitting on the couch, drinking hot tea while our little one is tucked in snug as a bug fast asleep. My response was absolutely! I wouldn’t trade it for the world! We have celebrated New Years many different ways and this year is by far the greatest yet! I am happy as a lark sitting here with my hubby, pups and lil one sound asleep, while we watch Dick Clark’s New Years Eve special. I pray all those that are out celebrating will be safe and get home to their loved ones. I…

    Back To Basics!

    12/19 /No Comments

I wrote this some time ago and feel it is appropriate to resurrect.  I wrote this the day after the Sandy Hook tragedy. I know a lot of us are attempting to make sense of the past few days events (I know I have been). Through all of my thoughts and prayers this is what I have come up with. One question I have for you is…What have you feed your spirit today? We are consumed with our everyday lives that we forget there is a world that exists beyond our four walls. I do not speak of your neighbor or co-workers I am referring of the spiritual world. What…

    Breast Milk Diaries Part II

    12/14 /No Comments

Well the day happened, I used the last of my frozen supply. I am now substituting formula along with breast-milk and let me tell ya it was not easy! I made him his first formula bottle and he hated it! Made me smile a bit but I knew he had to develop a taste for it. The next try I gave it to him in the morning when he was good and hungry and he drank six ounces no problem. That night I made him another bottle. It was tough giving it to him and of course I cried. I am still able to pump around nine ounces a day…
