Censored By My “Peers” Of The Writing World
Hypocrite: One who assumes a false appearance; one who feigns to be what he is not, or to feel or believe what he does not actually feel or believe; especially, a false pretender to virtue or piety. This word has been what I have discovered in the group, Her View From Home Team, that I once was part of to be. It was all rainbows and puppy dogs until you have a matter of difference in opinion or a voice that does not align with the rhetoric. I suppose had I put hearts as a comment vs facts I would still be part of the group. One of the owners…
Summer Series: Must Do’s In My State, California Pt 2!
Sacramento, the capital of California, is not a common vacation spot. When people think of California, they imagine Los Angeles, San Francisco or Napa Valley. Growing up in the Sacramento suburbs I never thought of my hometown as a travel destination. Why would someone want to visit this area? However, as the saying goes, distance makes the heart grow founder. Now that I’ve moved out of the area I can see why Sacramento is a great place for a vacation. Here’s my top reasons to visit Sac Town. By Kristen Kehl of Hello Minder Food. Sacramento is known as America’s Farm to Fork Capitol. Hundreds of acres of farm land…
Overexposed
When someone says the word overexposed I think of film, a bad picture. The film was exposed to too much of something that made it bad. Do we live in a world that is overexposed? With so many social media outlets news of the world travels much faster than when I was little. Instead of the five o clock news or major headlines in the Sunday paper, we now know of happenings within minutes of the event. We are constantly inundated with the good, the bad and the ugly. What are we doing to ourselves mentally by being that advanced in the know? I once read a book on plants…
Time…
For All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever.” 1 Peter 1:24-25 Time: The one thing we all have and can be the most abused gift we are given. I am guilty as most of us are and this morning I had my wake-up call that got me thinking. I start my day’s normally at 6:00am when my expensive alarm clock, Cooper, goes off. I get up, change him, and we set out to the kitchen to make our “coffee”. I let the pups out and give…
Breast Milk Diaries
As I sit here at work ( returning to work after maternity leave )eating my lunch and logging my milk pumped, I realize I really have done a good job. I am 42, work full time outside of the home, full time wife, mom and have managed to breastfeed/ pump for almost ten months. While I may not be able to keep up with Cooper’s milk demands much longer and will have to substitute with formula, I have pumped 2,510 ounces in seven months. I believe that is pretty darn great all things considering. I am still holding on to my year goal which is so close, but I am…
Being a Mama Past & Present
This weekend we had dinner with friends of ours that are expecting. During our conversation the topic of being a mom now vs. 50 years ago came up. It got me thinking of my own childhood (I am 41) vs. the life that our son will have/grow up in now. My mom was able to stay home and sell Avon with me and while I would like to be a stay at home mom it isn’t feasible. Women now are expected to be career driven as well as a wife and a mom. In turn we are more financially secure than my parents were. I don’t remember ever having play-dates.…
