Get more sleep

We’d all like a bit more sleep, right? Well, as hard as it can be for some to get sleep, it’s always good to try, where possible, to get more sleep every night.

This can be achieved in a variety of ways. Going to bed earlier is always a good step in the right direction. It can be a habit for many to stay up later than planned, which, of course, leads to a lack of hours in bed.

Try to get yourself into a routine where you’re going to bed at the same time every night. Think about how you can improve your sleep hygiene for the sake of a better night’s sleep. If you’ve got a habit of scrolling on your phone at night, try blue light glasses to help reduce the impact of blue light that can keep you up.

Do the exercise you enjoy

Exercise is something that should be enjoyed, so when it comes to taking some self-care tips on board, look at how you could get more exercise into your routine.

It’s important that the routine of exercise works around your current one, rather than having to change your schedule for exercising. That’s never going to help motivate or encourage you to get up and go to the gym, for example.

Find exercise you enjoy and try to make more time for it where you can.

Meditate

Meditation is always a good thing when it comes to feeling present and in the moment. Not only that, but it can be a good way to help feel more grounded in oneself.

With that being said, consider how you could incorporate meditation into your daily routine, whether it’s first thing in the morning or last thing before bed.

Journal

Journaling can be a wonderful and therapeutic pastime, especially when you’re looking to offload your thoughts and feelings in a private manner. It’s a little bit like keeping a diary, but there’s not so much a commitment to writing daily or writing anything that makes sense.

Some journaling could be a flurry of words or sentences in your head, while others could be doodles that you need to get out onto paper.

Practice gratitude

Practising gratitude is a great way of reflecting on your efforts so far in life and taking stock of the wonderful things you have in your life. Sometimes we forget just how good we have it until it’s no longer there. Having that thought process can be a great way of remembering the things to be grateful for.

Take a digital detox

With technology taking up so much of our daily lives, it’s no surprise that digital detoxing is becoming a popular self-care trend. Taking regular breaks from your phone, computer, and social media can help reduce anxiety, improve sleep, and increase your overall sense of presence. Even setting boundaries—like turning off notifications after a certain hour or designating one screen-free day each week—can make a big difference in your mental clarity. Use that time to reconnect with nature, read a book, or simply be still.

These self-care habits are a great way of looking after yourself, and you can start today!
