Hey y’all! I know it has been a while since I have written anything but we had a death in the family and I had to travel to North Carolina. It has been hectic to say the least but I am back home now and can play catch-up.
So last time I wrote about traveling with Cooper he was tiny yet and I was able to use our Bob stroller as well as his Britax carrier car seat. Well he isn’t lil anymore so things changed. It was only he and myself traveling so I had to get a wee bit creative with luggage, car seats etc.
I am no longer breastfeeding so breast milk bottles were not a thing this go around. I did however make two whole milk bottles with toddler formula in them for the plane ride. I also purchased a small bottle of milk at the airport just in case he drank more than usual. He is eating solids like a champ now so I purchased breakfast once we arrived at the airport.
I packed all of our items in an Eddie Bauer Expedition Drop bottom rolling duffel. This piece is awesome and comes with a lifetime warranty. All of their luggage is highly rated and I recommend. I also have the greatest travel diaper bag ever that my lovely aunt bought us. It is by Bag Nation and I couldn’t imagine travel without it! I was going to rent a car seat from the car rental company but after reading horror stories opted to take mine. We have a Britax Marathon which I purchased a GateCheck bag for. The great thing about gate checking your car seat is there is no additional charge and you know exactly where it is. Sometimes if the flight isn’t full they will allow you to bring it on board and put in the seat next to you. Make sure it has an FAA compliant rating visible if you decide to do this. I also did not buy Cooper a seat since he refuses to use it anyhow.
Once at the airport I used my Ergobaby 360 to place Coop on my front, the backpack on my back, the car seat was bunged to the handle of my Eddie Bauer bag and I was ready to go! I also purchase the cutest slip on Roxy shoes to breeze through security! Fortunately they had the pups out so I didn’t have to remove any liquids or remove shoes. You will have to take the car seat off your bag to go through security.
Anyhow, I received several compliments that I looked incredibly organized and made traveling solo with a baby look easy. I had to laugh because a twenty two pound baby, a fifteen pound bag and a pull bag was far from easy. I did get my workout in but all in all it was not a bad way to travel at all.
Oh I still kept with purchasing everything at my destination such as diapers, milk etc. It is so much easier that way. Cooper also slept in the bed with me this time so a pack-n-play wasn’t necessary.
Well I hope all of y’all are well and let me know if you have any questions about any of the items I used. Take care and God bless!
